Homozygotes exhibit eyes that are rough and reduced in size with variable and reduced numbers of photoreceptors in almost all ommatidia. Wings are short with the distal part deleted. Legs are short due to the fusion of tarsal segments. rn^roe-SC1/Df(3R)rn20 flies exhibit the same wing, leg and eye phenotype as rn^roe-SC1 homozygotes. rn^roe-SC1/rn⁵ flies exhibit a similar wing and leg phenotype as rn^roe-SC1 homozygotes.
