Clones in the wing fail to cause outgrowths in the wing blade but do produce a lawn extra bristles in the wing pouch.
Supernumerary wings are induced by clones of wg-expressing cells in the portion of the wing disc normally fated to give rise to the body wall. Discs showing duplicated wings are recovered at a high frequency but few larvae survive to adulthood.
Clones in the wing induce the formation of ectopic wing margins in the wing pouch. Clones can also cause outgrowths from the surface of the wing blade.
Exists in clones, not reported as being germ-line transmitted.
