A 5.1kb fragment containing the gl promoter directs expression of a ~8kb XbaI-XhoI genomic fragment of per that lacks the per promoter and most of intron 1 but encodes a wild type per product.

      Comments

      Rescues the behavioral rhythm defect of per01 mutants. Rhythms are 1-2hrs longer than for per+t12.3. Rescue is independent of eyes and ocelli, as rescue still occurs in an eya2 and oc- mutants.
