Comments

Rescue of pigeonP1 adult olfactory learning defect by pigeonhs.PB reported in FBrf0083785 is not reproducible. pigeonhs.PB rescues defects in another form of plasticity.

Heat shock rescues learning and 3hr retention scores of pigeonP1 to wild-type levels. Perception of odors or electroshock remain normal when heat shock is applied to pigeonP1 flies. Heat shock has no effect on learning and memory in wild-type flies. FlyBase curator comment: In a subsequent publication (Bolwig et al., 2002, Neuron 34: 667) the authors describe how repeat of these rescue experiments failed to reproduce the rescue of the adult learning defect of pigeonP1 by FBtp0006269.
