Expression of htlDN.Scer\UAS in the lateral glia, under the control of Scer\GAL4158, inhibits the embryonic condensation of the ventral nerve cord.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4twi.PB the number of HVM cells is reduced.

Scer\GAL4hs.PB-mediated expression 4-5 hours after egg laying causes some muscles to be missing.

Scer\GAL4hs.2sev mediated expression at 2.5 hours AEL does not lead to defects in mesoderm spreading, but causes the formation irregular patches of visceral mesoderm that fail to fuse. Expression induced at 5 hours AEL causes irregular patterns of cardial cells. Expression induced at 4 hours AEL causes missing ventral muscles or misdirected muscles.
