14-3-3ζ2.3 homozygous, but not heterozygous, larvae have significantly reduced amplitude of evoked excitatory junction potentials and a significant increase in the number of incompletely differentiated (ghost) boutons in the neuromuscular junction, compared to controls.
No neuroanatomical aberrations are evident during development of the brain. Flies show reduced performance in a modified olfactory trap assay, using geraniol as the attractive odor, both immediately after training and 90 mins after training.
Exhibits a decrement in the 3 to 240 minute memory performance. Transheterozygotes with 14-3-3ζP1375 show a highly significant reduction in 3 minute memory. Odour avoidance (octanol and benzaldehyde) is normal.
