Dhc64C6-10 rodX-6 double mutants have a variety of mitotic defects. The ratio of metaphase/anaphase figures is 3.2 in the mutant animals compared to 2.9 in the wild type. The mitotic index is 0.7 compared to 1.0 in the wild type. There is a higher frequency of overcondensed metaphases than in the wild type and 34% polyploid metaphases. A high frequency of abnormal anaphases are seen. 27% of abnormal anaphases show premature sister chromatid separation.
