egg & microtubule
Flies carrying Lk6Ubi-p63E.PK are very unhealthy. 20-50% of the eggs laid by females carrying Lk6Ubi-p63E.PK are unfertilised and have defects in microtubule formation. Only 30-50% of the eggs laid by females carrying Lk6Ubi-p63E.PK hatch. These embryos have a number of mitotic defects. Most of the surviving larvae pupate, and approximately 60-70% of the pupae eclose as adults. The hatching rate is not rescued by mating females carrying Lk6Ubi-p63E.PK to control males. Control females mated to males carrying Lk6Ubi-p63E.PK have normal hatching rates.
