Homozygotes have greatly reduced viability at 29oC. Surviving homozygotes exhibit severely disrupted eye phenotype and in addition a patch on the ventral posterior eye quadrant has a much lower density of ommatidia and these ommatidia are hard to distinguish from the surrounding cuticle.
