ricin, ricinA, RTA
Foreign sequence; species == Ricinus communis; gene == 'RT, Ricin toxin gene'; UniProt/Swiss- Prot:P02880 .
Scer\GAL4 driving the expression of the toxin ricin A is a simple and efficient method of targetted cell ablation. Scer\GAL4 mediated ablation has been used to kill the interface glia that prefigure and then overlie the longitudinal axon tracts of the embryonic nerve cord. Ablation of these cells leads to the misrouting, thinning or elimination of the longitudinal axon tracts, the glial cells are required for the formation of the longitudinal connectives.
A system for temperature induced killing of specific cells is developed using Rcom\RA.
