        The oesophagus is shorter than normal and the proventriculus is defective in mutant embryos.

        Chromatid segregation, but not chromatin decondensation is blocked in mitosis 15. Cells in mitosis 16 contain more than two centrosomes. Chromosome segregation is also blocked in mitosis 16.

        The denticle bands of thrunspecified mutant embryos have fewer rows, which all point posteriorly, and the denticles are larger than normal. Mitosis does not appear to occur after the first post-blastoderm division, resulting in embryos with fewer and larger cells than normal.
