FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
Animals in which the antenna is almost completely mutant for hthunspecified (clones induced using the Minute technique) show a complete transformation of antenna to leg if the clones are induced before approximately 2 days after egg laying (AEL). If the antennal clones are induced 3 days AEL, a variable phenotype is seen, with many antenna showing some aristal development. Antennal clones induced at 4-5 days AEL show normal development of the arista and basal cylinder, although the more proximal segments of the antenna continue to be transformed towards leg.
