        Embryos lacking maternal and zygotic dlg1 function show defects in apicobasal polarity during mid-embryogenesis and disruption of adherens junctions.

        In dlg1 mutant embryos, Sh and Fas2 gene products fail to localise to the synaptic boutons, though the synapses appear normal.
