Eye imaginal discs of third instar larvae raised at 18oC are larger than normal, consistent with ectopic cell proliferation and hyperplastic growth, but the adult eyes are rough and slightly smaller than normal. When raised at 25oC the eye imaginal discs are dramatically larger than wild type. These animals survive as adults and have larger-than-normal eyes with protruding outgrowths of eye tissue and cuticle emanating from the posterior margin. Occasionally, rather than having larger eyes ventral portions or all of one eye may be missing. When raised at 29oC, larvae have no eye-antennal discs. These animals die as pharate adults and completely lack all head structures derived from the missing disc.
Ras85DV12.ey has phenotype, suppressible by RafXS-2541
Phenotype can be partially suppressed by phlXS-2541 at 29oC, most mutants have head structures, some survive to adulthood with a limited amount of hyperplasia.
