The expression of aos::vnEGF.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU induces ectopic wing structures in third instar larval wing discs, a compared to controls.
Expression of argos::vnEGF.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL469B results in loss of wing veins. 92% of wings lack the anterior crossvein in flies expressing argos::vnEGF.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1.
The expression of argos::vnEGF.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 produces a "four wing fly". The ectopic wings appear below the normal wings in mirror symmetry and are composed mainly of posterior structures. The ectopic wings do include some anterior wing tissue that can be recognised as such by margin bristles and sensilla characteristic of the third wing vein.
Scer\GAL469B-mediated expression causes a mild or moderate extra-vein phenotype. Wing is also smaller than wild type as vein cells that replace inter vein cells are more compact. Mediated expression causes a rough eye phenotype: eyes are smaller than wild type and some ommatidia are fused.
