Detailed Description

Expression of wgGMR.PW results in small, heavily pigmented eyes.

Expression of wgGMR.PW at high levels in the developing retina causes the eye to be unusually small and to consist almost entirely of pigment rim-like cells. Additionally, necrotic regions are observed amongst these cells. Eyes become smaller in proportion to the number of copies of wgGMR.PW expressed.

Flies expressing wgGMR.PW have very small eyes consisting almost entirely of pigment cells.
