Detailed Description

Clones in the eye expressing wgαTub84B.PW lack bristles. When these clones are present in the dorsal region of the eye, almost all of the ommatidia in this region are transformed into dorsal rim ommatidia, a specialized ommatidial type that is normally only found at the periphery of the dorsal half of the eye.

Clones in the eye expressing wgαTub84B.PW produce healthy ommatidia and are associated with polarity inversions. The clones induce polarity reversal on their polar side and are maximally potent to do this in the equatorial region of the eye. Changes in polarity extend into the wild-type tissue outside the clone.
