The EL neuron clusters are significantly enlarged in embryos expressing runScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4, containing an average of 15.5 eve-expressing cells per hemisegment (compared to 9 per hemisegment in wild-type). The medial eve-expressing cells are also disrupted. The nerve cord is severely disrupted. Embryos expressing runScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E have extra eve-expressing EL neurons, containing an average of 12.7 eve-expressing cells per hemisegment. These extra cells project axons that cross the anterior commissure. These axons are not organised into fascicles. The posterior commissures are reduced or missing, and breaks are seen in the longitudinal connectives.
