Clones in the eye expressing armact.hs.2sev lack ommatidia. Outside of the clones, ectopic dorsal rim photoreceptor cells can be observed, meaning that these cells have been induced nonautonomously by the neighbouring armact.hs.2sev clone. Additionally, although most of the armact.hs.2sev clones appear as pigment rim-like tissue, ommatidia are able to form in clones close to the wild-type tissue.
Clones in the eye expressing armact.hs.2sev produce severely disrupted ommatidia, which are frequently devoid of photoreceptors, and the retinal tissue appears to be made largely of pigment cells. At the interface with wild-type tissue, wild-type ommatidia form which may be composed completely of mutant cells or may be mosaics of wild-type and mutant cells. These ommatidia are always of the appropriate chiral form.
Exists in clones, not reported as being germ-line transmitted.
