qua6-396/qua8-1062 nurse cells have a mildly dispersed nucleolus during oogenesis. Additionally, their inability to form cytoplasmic actin bundles and to complete dumping by stage 13, results in larger nurse cells and a smaller oocyte than controls.
The wing hairs of qua1/qua6-396 mutants are 23% longer than wild-type hairs.
Classic dumpless phenotype.
Group I phenotype: females have normal internal genitalia and lay eggs which are fertilized. Eggs are short with truncated anterior tip, short fat chorionic appendages and normal micropyle. They are the size and shape of stage 11 oocytes. Eggs show mitotic spindle difficulties.
