'fas[G5-29]' was originally described as a "translocation breakpoint within the 'fas' transcription unit" that was originally associated with the gene 'CG17716' (Lekven et al, 1998; FBrf0103312). Several 'fas' lesions have since been moved from CG17716 to the 'CG6197/fand' gene, based on a subsequent analysis (Sauerwald et al, 2017; FBrf0234822). However, the 'G5-29' allele has retained its association with CG17716 as the original paper (FBrf0103312) stated the translocation breakpoint was mapped "30 kbp downstream (distal) of the P1411 (P{PZ}05488) insertion site, within the identified transcription unit (= CG17716)".
