    Phenotypic Data
    Phenotypic Class
    Phenotype Manifest In

1st posterior cell | ventral & wing hair

3rd posterior cell | dorsal & wing hair

3rd posterior cell | dorsal & wing hair | somatic clone

    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Hairs on the dorsal surface of the centre of the E region of the wing are slightly finer and more elevated than normal in homozygous flies raised at 25oC.

Cells in homozygous clones on the dorsal surface of the centre of the E region of the wing do not produce hairs.

Arista laterals are shorter than normal in mutant flies and are often split. At 18oC, the phenotype is weak in shaVB13 hemizygotes, with less than 10% of laterals being split, while at 29oC more than 40% of laterals are branched. The temperature sensitive period is close to when laterals initiate. shaVB13 hemizygotes have a variable wing hair phenotype, ranging from cells that produce no wing hair, to cells that produce a number of short hairs to cells that produce a normal hair. Split wing hairs are seen, but are not as common as independent multiple hairs. The temperature sensitive period is the time of hair initiation.

Some cells form multiple split and shortened hairs and others have no hair at all.
