Description

H542E and D543H lie in the first putative lumenal loop. Although rdgBsu100 contains the Q147term mutation found in the progenitor rdgB9 allele, full-length protein is produced, probably by translation through the nonsense mutation, rather than by alternative splicing.

Amino acid replacement: H542E.

Amino acid replacement: D543H.

Comment:

Position of mutation on reference sequence inferred by FlyBase curator based on author statement. Although mutation would be expected to create truncated protein, full-length protein is produced. Likely a read-through stop codon.

Detailed Description

10 day old rdgBsu100 flies raised in a 12 hour light:dark cycle that lack a deep pseudopupil have some disorganised ommatidia and small and/or missing R1-R6 rhabdomeres. R1-R6 photoreceptors are abnormally shaped. Massive degeneration in the retina is not seen. The electroretinogram light response amplitude is reduced compared to wild-type, but the off transient is present.
