      Flies expressing SodAct5C.PS show no disruption in photoreceptor cell morphology in the retina or the lamina.

      Flies expressing SodAct5C.PS show a significant increase in mean life span.

      (Sun et al., 2002)

      Heat pulse leading to Sod overexpression in adults significantly increases life span. Simultaneous overexpression with Cat does not potentiate this effect. No detectable correlation was found between activity and life span or between activity and Sod overexpression or between fecundity and life span. The amount of Sod overexpression correlates with the amount of life span extension.
