Pan-neuronal expression of 5-HT2AScer\UAS.cCa in adult flies (using 31[o]C heat-induced Scer\GAL4nSyb.PS in combination with Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) does not significantly affect wall following behavior (posited measure of anxiety) or walking speed in an arena, compared to non-induced (18[o]C) controls.
Embryos expressing 5-HT2Scer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4Kr.PM show altered cell speed movements during germband extension, with ectodermal cells close to the pole cells showing increased cell speeds compared to equivalent cells in control embryos.
When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4Kr.PM there are initially significant perturbations at the beginning of gastrulation, due to a mistiming in morphogenetic movements, which is compensated later in embryogenesis by an increase in rate of cell movement. Heat shocking increases the lethality.
