Development of antennal lobe projection neurons (PN) in Lim1E9 homozygous clones is largely normal except that there are occasional decreases in lateral projection neuron (lPN) numbers and vPN innervation of DA1 is reduced and sometimes undetectable.

Most mutant larvae survive till 3rd instar larvae, about 10-20% pupate. Development of larvae appears normal until the 3rd instar wandering phase. At this stage the mutants appear sluggish and fail to wander normally, causing them to either arrest or pupate on or near the food source. Those that do pupate do occasionally reach pharate adult stage, but do not eclose. the overall structure of the nervous system appears normal. The addition of Chiunspecified has no effect on the phenotype of homozygous mutants.
