Embryos expressing Cyp18a1^Scer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4^da.G32 fail to lay down embryonic cuticle, and cuticle structures such as denticle belts fail to develop. A lack of head involution is seen, gut morphogenesis defects are observed, and the midgut and dorsal epidermis do not undergo closure.

When expression is driven in the wing using Scer\GAL4^Bx-MS1096 vein formation is unaffected.
