Imprecise excision of the P{GawB} element. Scer\GAL4 sequences are still present. w sequences are still present but the size of the w fragment is altered compared to prosV1. A 2.9kb BamHI-PstI fragment ("pBSK") from the 3' end of the element appears to be intact. Surrounding genomic sequences are unaffected.

Homozygous clones induced by the eyFLP method result in ectopic CO[[2]] neurons on the maxillary palp (MP). The ectopic neurons show dual targeting specificity: in addition to targeting the V-glomerulus they also innervate a set of medial glomeruli normally innervated by two MP olfactory receptor neuron classes. The number of antennal CO[[2]] neurons is unaffected.
The median lifespan for prosV78 animals (the age after egg laying at which 50% of homozygotes have died) is 1.67 days at 25oC.
Homozygous third instar larvae show reduced locomotor activity compared to controls.
Homozygous second instar larvae are indifferent to 0.1M sucrose in a taste response assay, in contrast to wild-type larvae which are significantly attracted by sucrose. They are repulsed by 0.3M NaCl (as are wild-type larvae).
The courtship index of heterozygous males towards decapitated Canton-S males is significantly higher than that of wild-type males towards decapitated Canton-S males. The courtship index of heterozygous males towards decapitated Canton-S males is not significantly different from that of heterozygous prosV1 males towards decapitated Canton-S males. Homozygotes die mostly during the larval stage.
