CycBdbm.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4prd.RG1, delays progression through mitosis in mutant embryos. There is an enrichment of mitotic figures in which sister chromatids are separated but not segregated all the way to the spindle poles. In 20% of mutant embryos, all cells become arrested in mitosis. This occurs after sister chromatid separation and an initial segregation phase. However sister chromatids do not reach the poles completely and continue to move around individually and often backwards to the central region of arrested cells.
Expression of CycBdbm.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 blocks exit from mitosis in the developing embryo and causes an enrichment of mitotic figures.
