glu88-82 mutant embryos have a lower ratio of mitosis to apoptosis compared to wild-type embryos. This ratio decreases further with age. glu88-82 both enhances and suppresses PEV of eye colour in In(1)wm4h flies, but the suppressor behaviour occurs at a far higher frequency. The enhancement of PEV by glu88-82 in flies carrying the P{hsp26-pt-T}118E-10 insertion is more apparent in female progeny. The same is true for the P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-72 insertion.
