Construct: Contains the 5' region of usp - amino acids 1 through 178, and the 3' end of Cten\Usp-1 - amino acids 175 through 451 with a linker of three amino acids between them.
Mutants stop development at the larval/prepupal transition. No usp-like phenotypes are seen.
usp::Cten\Usp-1d-c is a suppressor of lethal | larval stage phenotype of usp3
usp::Cten\Usp-1d-c is a suppressor of lethal | larval stage phenotype of usp2
usp::Cten\Usp-1d-c is a suppressor of lethal | larval stage phenotype of usp4
The addition of one copy of usp::Cten\Usp-1d-c to usp2, usp3 or usp4 rescues the usp phenotypes, but rescued larvae die at the late third instar stage. Rescued usp2 mutants fail to wander off the food and show no signs of prepupal contraction, although the cuticle becomes partially tanned. Rescued usp3 and usp4 mutants show a cessation of movement during the late third instar, but larvae show no sign of prepupal tanning except along the denticle belts of the midsegments.
