UASp regulatory sequences drive expression of a ligand-inducible recombinase (P1cre::EBD) that is composed of the P1\cre recombinase coding region fused to the D linker domain and E ligand-binding domain of Hsap\ESR1.
In the absence of estrogen, most animals carrying P1\creEBD251.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Hsap\ESR1 expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH have normal eye morphology. In the presence of estrogen, animals carrying P1\creEBD251.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Hsap\ESR1 expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH all have rough eyes. Lower concentrations of estrogen result in a reduced severity of the phenotype.
The T:Hsap\ESR1 hormone binding domain tag results in the level of recombinase activity being regulated by estrogen.
