    Description

FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.

    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

CSN5unspecified mutant egg chambers display a variety of phenotypes: apoptosis of germ cells; extra or fewer nurse cells (germ cell numbers per egg chamber vary from 2-32); fusion of adjacent egg chambers, sometimes resulting in multiple germline cysts in the same, aberrant egg chamber; and occasional tumorous-like ovarioles filled with large numbers of germline cysts not separated by follicle cells. In some CSN5unspecified germline clones, nurse cell nuclei are much larger than normal and sometimes the nuclei within a particular chamber differ dramatically in size.

Unlike either single heterozygote, ovaries from CSN5unspecified; lin19k01207 transheterozygous females display various defects: cell death, abnormal number of nurse cells per egg chamber, and loss of stalk cells. The ovary phenotype of CSN5unspecified mutants is not suppressed by mei-W68 or mei-41.
