Two insertions into twin, one in the 5' UTR (P{5'SUPor-P}twinKG00877a) and one in the large fourth intron (P{3'SUPor-P}twinKG00877b). Neither P-element is complete; the insertion in the 5' UTR lacks its 3' end, while the insertion in the fourth intron lacks its 5' end.
Embryos derived from twinKG00877/Df(3R)Exel6198 females mated to wild-type males show 31% lethality. Syncytial blastoderm nuclei of these embryos divide asynchronously, in contrast to wild type.
twinKG00877/Df(3R)crb-F89-4 females show a number of ovarian defects; 87.7% of egg chambers are wild-type, but 0.5% have less than 15 nurse cells, 5% have more than 15 nurse cells and 7% show degeneration.
Separable from: cavKG00877. The "KG00877" line contains 2 separate insertions; P{3'SUPor-P}twinKG00877b (corresponding to the site of the flanking sequence BH614837) which maps within twin and P{5'SUPor-P}twinKG00877a (corresponding to the site of the flanking sequence BH614838), which maps within both twin and cav (overlapping genes on opposite strands) (see FBrf0179476).
"KG00877" homozygotes die as first instar larvae, but this lethality is due to an associated mutation and is not due to lack of twin function as twinKG00877/Df(3R)crb-F89-4 flies are viable.
