Homozygous females have a weak mutant ovary phenotype; the females are fertile but the ovaries are slightly smaller than normal, slightly irregular and rounded at the terminal end (due to defects in terminal filament formation). The ovarioles contain normal-looking follicles and mature oocytes. Homozygotes have a weak mutant leg phenotype.
The bab2E6 allele does not change the level of expression of either bab1 or bab2. As bab2E3 does not complement bab2E1 but complements bab1P, it should be a mutation in bab2 and not in bab1.
