Homozygous females have a very weak mutant ovary phenotype. Homozygotes have a weak mutant leg phenotype. Homozygous females show uniformly dark pigmentation of the A6 tergite and partial ectopic pigmentation in A5.

The bab2E3 allele does not change the level of expression of either bab1 or bab2. As bab2E3 does not complement bab2E1 but complements bab1P, it should be a mutation in bab2 and not in bab1.
