      Expression of HN.Scer\UAS.T:Hsim\VP16 under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 results in failures of the bristle shaft cell fate, producing defects including moderately shortened shafts, tiny unpigmented shafts and complete shaft-to-socket transformations.
