Central nervous system neuroblasts of fed second instar larvae expressing Ilp4Scer\UAS.cIa under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU show an increase in EdU incorporation compared to controls.
Expression of Ilp4Scer\UAS.cIa under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU does not affect the body mass of third instar larvae.
Larvae expressing Ilp4Scer\UAS.cIa, under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 display a normal feeding response when fed ad libitum. The same third instar larvae fasted for 120 minutes display significantly attenuated feeding rates. Comparison to controls reveal that Ilp4Scer\UAS.cIa flies (Scer\GAL4elav-C155) ingest liquid and solid food 33-45% slower.
When Ilp4Scer\UAS.cIa is driven by Scer\GAL4arm.PS or Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP a statistically significant increase in body size is seen.
