Imprecise excision of the P{lacW} insertion from hrgk07618 deletes the first 6 residues of hrg. Most of the 5'-UTR of the longest mRNAs as well as the embryonic transcription start site has also been removed.
The percentage of maternal effect embryonic lethality seen in embryos derived from orbmel homozygous females is increased by heterozygosity for hrgPAP45. The percentage of ventralised embryos is increased by heterozygosity for one copy of hrgPAP45.
hrgPAP45/+; orbmel lay almost no eggs. In these females oogenesis stops most frequently at stage 7/8 after which egg chambers degenerate, even though one or two stage 14 oocytes per ovary can be observed.
Phenotypic analysis suggests the following allelic series: hrgPAP12 > hrgPAP21 > hrgPAP45.
