Imprecise excision of the P{lArB} element resulting in deletion of genomic sequences. Part of the element remains.
The easthop-5 phenotype is associated with a 23.7% rate of nondisjunction of achiasmate X-chromosomes in female meiosis. Nondisjunction occurs during the segregation of homologs in meiosis I. The segregation of the achiasmate chromosome 4 is not affected. Embryos derived from females carrying homozygous easthop-5 germline clones have a higher rate of lethality than embryos derived from females carrying easthop-5 heterozygous germline clones. A small proportion of embryos derived from females carrying homozygous easthop-5 germline clones have vast areas of the embryonic surface that are depleted of nuclei.
