A significant fraction of homozygotes survive to the late third larval instar and progress into early pupal stages, but they do not complete pupariation. Homozygous clones in the eye induced in the second to early third instar are recovered in adults, and the clones do not have any morphological defects and are similar in size to their twin-spot clones.
