Amino acid change:

L821term | rod-PA

Reported amino acid change:

L821term

Comment:

The mutation is reported as G2462A but there is a T nucleotide at position 2462 relative to the ATG (in codon 821) in the reference sequence. T to A change at this site leads to a nonsense mutation.

Mutant spermatocytes have a normal number of Golgi structures but their morphology is highly irregular.

Spermatids from mutant third instar larvae testes do not show cytokinesis defects.

The acroblast of rod1100 spermatids appears as an aggregate of multiple unfused vesicles in ~half of cases, while it appears as a continuous structure (as in wild type) in the other half.

Chromosome disjunction in mutant spermatocytes is highly asynchronous. During anaphase the dyads either fail to undergo poleward motion, or move polewards at a greatly attenuated rate.

mst2 rod1100 double mutant larvae show a higher frequency of ana-telophases in the brain than mst2 single mutants. The ana-telophase figures of the double mutants show chromosome segregation defects that are much more severe than those seen in rod1100 single mutants.
