Detailed Description

Tarsal and antennal structures are normal in mil1 flies.

The courtship index of naive mil1 males is lower than that of CantonS controls.

Mutant males show can form immediate memory in a courtship suppression paradigm (CCSP), with the courtship index being reduced immediately after conditioning, but have a significant reduction in the learning index one day after training compared to immediately after training, indicating a defect in long-term memory.

Homozygous mil1 mutant flies do not show any change in sensitivity to ethanol vapor compared to controls.

In memory tests, mutants perform at 101% of wild-type after a single training session, at 21% after spaced training.
