      Flies expressing cadScer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4cad-md509 are viable, although 30% of them show an abnormal swelling and enlarged gut phenotype. These flies also show greater BrdU incorporation in the large and small cells of the posterior midgut compared to controls. These midguts show a marked increase in cellular proliferation compared to controls.
