        In nompBunspecified mutants, neuronal cell bodies and axons appear normal, but the sensory process that normally contacts the dome-shaped sensillum is retracted. In mutant chordotonal organs the single cilium normally seen is absent, while a few short, thin irregularly curved processes remain on some neurons. The defect is limited to the cilia: inner segments and cell bodies appear normal. Cilia are also missing from all olfactory neurons of the third antennal segment.
