scutum | ectopic, with Scer\GAL4MS248
Expression of eygScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4MS248 results in the scutellum being replaced by a scutum-like pattern in mirror-image orientation. Macrochaetae are present in the duplicated structure.
In the scutellum of eygScer\UAS.cAa flies with Scer\GAL4455.2, Scer\GAL4MS248, Scer\GAL4ush-MD751, Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, or Scer\GAL4MD-638, the presence of ectopic microchaetes and the changes in morphology observed suggest a transformation into scutum. In addition there is an abrupt change in polarity of the microchaetes and macrochaetes close to the border of the transformation. The wings of eygScer\UAS.cAa; Scer\GAL4MD-638 flies are badly deformed, and exhbit a patch of sclerotised tissue at their center, suggesting partial transformation towards a notum fate. eygScer\UAS.cAa ; Scer\GAL4ap-md544 the scutellum is absent but there is no indication of scutellum to scutum transformation.
Flies expressing both hthScer\UAS.cPa and eygScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4MS248 have duplicated notum structures, but the duplicated structures do not contain macrochaetae.
In eygScer\UAS.cAa; Scer\GAL4MD-638; araScer\UAS.cGa flies, the wing is replaced by a notum duplication, and the scutellar regions of the normal and the duplicated notum are transformed towards scutum. i.e.- the phenotypes due to eyg and ara overexpression with this driver appear to be additive.
