eye | ectopic, with Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1
The level of ectopic eye induction with eyaD493N.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 is less than 5%, compared with around 50% for eyaScer\UAS.cHa; Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1.
eyaD493N.UAS/Scer\GAL4ey.PB partially rescues eya2
eyaD493N.UAS/Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 partially rescues eya2
eyaD493N.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4ey.PB partially rescues the loss of eye phenotype of eya2 mutant flies. The eyes of these flies are significantly smaller than those of eya2 flies rescued with eyScer\UAS.cHa and Scer\GAL4ey.PB.
eyaD493N.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 rescue of eyes in eya2 flies has a penetrance of under 60% (compared to 100% penetrance due to rescue by eyaScer\UAS.cHa), whereas the size of rescued eyes is 5-25% of wild-type size (compared with around 50-80% due to rescue by eyaScer\UAS.cHa).
In vitro assays show that this mutated form of eya lacks phosphatase activity.
