Homozygous female and hemizygous male ClicEY04209 flies are lethal at 25[o]C. Heterozygous ClicEY04209 females are fertile and appear morphologically normal and generally healthy.
In an eRING assay to assess ethanol behavior, ClicEY04209 heterozygous females maintain their negative geotaxis behavior for longer than controls, during exposure to ethanol, suggesting that these mutants have reduced sensitivity to the sedative effects of ethanol. ClicEY04209 hemizygous males and homozygous females (reared at 20[o]C to improve viability) exhibit diminished ethanol sensitivity. In contrast to the effect on ethanol sensitivity, no significant effect on rapid ethanol tolerance is found.
Climbing speed in negative geotaxis assays is indistinguishable in ClicEY04209 heterozygotes compared to controls.
