FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
When mutant clones are made that include the entire germline, no mis-positioning of the oocyte is seen. By contrast, 1.5% of egg chambers with completely mutant follicle cell layers contain misplaced oocytes. When clones are made that include both the germline and the entire follicle cell layer egg chamber development appears to arrest during mid-oogenesis. About 11% of oocytes are mispositioned in these animals.
