Description

The insertion is located 200 bp upstream of the start codon of the mtd-RC transcript.

Transcription of mtd-RC is reduced 12-fold in mtdEY04695 flies compared to controls, whereas levels of mtd-RH and all long transcripts (containing the TLDc and LysM domains) are increased in the mutant. mtd-RD transcription is unaffected.

Detailed Description

Reference

As measured by H[[2]]O[[2]] ingestion, mtdEY04695 mutants are more resistant to oxidative stress than wild-type.

In the absence of infection, mtdEY04695 mutants have rates of intestinal stem cell (ISC) division that is at least three time as high as those of control flies. Vibrio cholerae infection results in decreased ISC proliferation, however, compared with wild-type, ISC division rates remain elevated in the mutant.

There is no significant difference in bacterial load after infection with Vibrio cholerae between control and mutant flies.

mtdEY04695 homozygotes show prolonged survival in the face of oral V. cholerae infection compared to wild type. The bacterial burdon of these flies 48 hours after infection is significantly less than controls.

mtdEY04695/Df(3R)3-4 flies show a susceptibility to V. cholerae infection that is comparable to control flies.
